David Batterson Aspiring writers should keep reading works in the genre they want to write in. This is the best way to learn how to structure a book whether it's a novella, a book in a series or trilogy or a full fledged novel. You may start one book and never finish it due to writers block or loss of interest. But no matter what, never trash the project. You never know when you'll get overwhelmed with a brand new direction to take your story. Dedication and determination will make you successful, so never stray from your dreams of becoming a published author.
David Batterson Being a writer allows one to freely express the flow of creativity that they encounter. Many times, a great book starts with just a simple idea for a storyline - or even just a great title. And being a writer that can carry the reader from beginning to end, keeping them interested and occupied with something that was created out of thin air by just an idea is a great accomplishment.
David Batterson I'm working on a novel about a married couple who break down in the desert after a weekend getaway who find themselves stranded, tormented and tortured by persons unknown.
David Batterson I think the best way to deal with writers block is to relax in the dark in a quiet room and brainstorm from one main section in the book to another, taking mental notes.
