Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

J.M. Bartholomew My most recent book is something I've been working on for a year and is the sequel to Three Fat Singletons, so I always knew what was coming in terms of ideas....but I always draw from real life.

How do you get inspired to write?

J.M. Bartholomew I pull many situations from real life. We've had a situation in our own lives just this month and so many people have said 'no doubt this is going to make it into the next book'...simply as you really couldn't make up some of the things I experience!

Do all 30 somethings in the U.K. drink too much, smoke too much and have sex that proves not to resolve anything? Between this book, and the "Bridget Jones" films I am led to wonder....

J.M. Bartholomew Only a very small number do everything to excess I imagine, but I don't have exact figures I'm afraid...it may just be that Three Fat Singletons and Bridget Jones films are the ones published as it makes us feel better about our own struggles :-)

The good news is there is plenty of resolution in the sequel to Three Fat Singletons!

How do you deal with writer’s block?

J.M. Bartholomew I don't really suffer with writers block...if ever I don't know what to write I go back to the beginning of my manuscript and start editing, eventually something comes to me and off I go again!
