I pray for inspiration, and I listen. I know god always has a story for me. It's just my job to find it.

I've learned so much about myself through writing. One of the best things about being a writer is that you have to be brave and think well of yourself. Writing can be lonely, so you have to create balance.

I think classes and learning how to write better is really important. Be inspired, listen to the stories that people are telling you all the time and never stop writing. Write everyday and don't give your time away. It takes a lot of discipline to be a writer.

I've just finished Merili's Wine which will be released August 31. I'm also working on The Shaman's Gift which is a story about a woman who keeps having accidents but she gets really scared when she takes a job as a nanny and the accidents aren't just happening to her only anymore. Through her journey, she meets a shaman who shows her the way back to herself. His gift surprises her and shows her how important her own gifts are.
I'm also finishing The Prayer which is a book about a young girl who ends up in jail and needs to figure out how to find her way out of the total mess that she's made of her life.

I started writing as a young girl-10 or so. For me, writing was a way to process all the crazy stuff that was going on in my life. Really, I feel that writing is one of the reasons that I'm not totally insane.

I was having lunch with a woman when she told me something that I couldn't believe. I couldn't wait to get home and write what I thought would be a short story but turned into a this book-Merili's Wine.
