One of the things I like to do when I feel the words are not freely flowing is to find a photograph that inspires ideas. Another method I employ is to choose a word that triggers my imagination. It seems with just the slightest bit of encouragement words will come out to play with me once again.

Sharing creations that come from somewhere in yourself that is propelled by joy. It is so satisfying to create something that others can embrace and incorporate into their lives. Writing poetry is a quick way to touch someone. Seeing someone read my poem and viewing their reaction in that moment is one of the most fulfilling things ever.

Set goals! I make a point to update my goals each time I check off one on the list. Decide when you want to reach each goal and research to find out what you need to do to get there. Reach out to other authors on social media and ask questions. Be open to criticism and grow from it.

Just being alive and being introspective inspires me to put "pen to paper". A vivid imagination and the ability to verbalize what is twirling in my head motivates me to compose the poetry that you may have read of mine. Another key ingredient for me when I am sitting down at the computer with purposeful intent to write (versus the stuff that comes to me anytime and anywhere) is to have great instrumental background music. Depending on my mood and the genre of writing that I am doing influences what I chose to pull up from my itunes library. I can't have music with lyrics playing because it is too distracting.

I am currently writing the final poems to go into volume 3 of my series, titled The Poetic Diary of Love and Change. This volume has so many heartfelt poems about loving oneself, healing from heart break, and finding hope within that love will be in your life again. I expect the book to be finished and ready for publishing before the end of July 2014.
