Prejudice in any form upsets me deeply. My books are a contribution to the conversation on acceptance, inclusion and love in our global community. It’s important that we include our kids in these conversations as they are the ones who will shape the future of the world.

I am a busy mum to six children, with a husband away on the mines for most of the year and I was always wanting to write these books. In the past, I was waiting for this large block of time to present itself to me so that finally I could write my books! Guess what? That chunk of time never materialised. I then nearly died two years ago which was a huge wake-up call and blessing. I no longer waited for the perfect conditions to write. I take any spare minutes that I can carve out of my day and began to realise my dreams. My advice is, just do it! Minutes add up to hours; hours add up to days; days add up to weeks; weeks gets you a book. You can do it!!

I get to reach a much bigger audience of children which makes my heart sing. It also enables me to be flexible with my own working hours so that I am available to my six kids at home. I’m living my bliss!

I lean into it. I set my mind the task of generating the ideas that will prove fruitful and then I let it go and have as much fun as I can. Then, when I least expect it the inspiration hits and the ideas flow.
