It just kinda evolved from previous work. It seemed natural, but it took a while to develop.

Writing seems to beget more writing. Sometimes there's a flash or two from On High. Sometimes you question your job or calling. Seeing your name in print can be good inspiration. I remember how grateful I was when a magazine ran an interview I did with a musician. I wasn't paid anything other than a complimentary copy of the magazine, but it helped inspire me to keep doing what I was doing.

A book about Bob Dylan's 2-week run of concerts at the Warfield Theater in San Francisco in Nov. 1979. Incidentally, the late Paul Williams wrote a great little book entitled "Dylan--What Happened?" which was on bookshelves by Christmas 1979. He attended the first half of this concert run with his then-wife, and then cranked out this intriguing book. As a reader, he put you there. I hope to do that too, but through the voices of many.

Stop thinking about it or talking about it so much (if you're guilty of that--I know I am), and just write. I've observed and listened to TONS of writers via BookTV (on C-SPAN2)...and virtually all of them approach it like a job or a calling: They're intentionally sitting down to do it every day. Or nearly every day. Some days you're singing the blues and might be down. Other days you're jumping for joy. And a lot in between. In a way, the experience mirrors life.

Creating. We can't help but create in general, but those of us who think and feel we're compelled to write (whether we're published or not), get to go to work with words. It can be challenging, frustrating, and rewarding.

Trust that the season will pass. Meantime, do other things you enjoy.
