I'm glad you're excited for Lone Man -- I am too. :)
I'm in the final revisions phase, so just a few last tweaks to go. I expect Lone Man to be available from mid-April. And then it's on to Lost Soul.

The answer to this one isn't very exciting.
My most recently released book, Requiem for the Wolf, and the one I'm currently working on, Book of the Lone Man, were originally planned as a duology. The idea was that each man is the hero of his own story, so the Big Bad antagonist in the first is the hero of the second.
As it happens, it didn't exactly turn out that way. Books tend to have a mind of their own on how they want to be written, and even in Requiem Carad turned out to be more sympathetic than I thought he would. Also, once both were plotted I could see a major hole in the story that could only be plugged with a third book.
I hate to say it, but a fourth book is also whispering in my ear, except that this one wants to be the start of a new trilogy with mostly new characters.
And that's how ideas come. They just turn up one day, whispering into my ear until I give up and start to listen.

Right now I'm working on the second book in the Tiarna Beo sequence, Carad's book. It's fun to delve into the innards of the Brotherhood and see what goes on there.

Hmmm. First answer is Cordelia Naismith and Aral Vorkosigan from Lois McMaster Bujold's early Vor books.
I like that they're in their late thirties/forties when they get together, with all the baggage and life experiences that this implies. They aren't clean-slate young lovers and that's okay. Bujold acknowledges this in the story, and makes it a strength rather than a weakness.
I also love that despite their rock-solid interpersonal relationship, their marriage is put under strain by forces from outside. This is realistic and also makes for great tension in the story. I was simultaneously rooting for them throughout and also wanting Cordelia to slice Aral into a thousand pieces.
And that's my answer. What's yours?
