Joseph and Mary, father and mother of Christ, because they waited in anticipation of mystery and honored God without understanding.

I was trained to listen as a psychotherapist, and I got that many people work things out just by being heard. Taught to be silent in my family of origin, I was terrified to share my thinking. In "normal" discourse in the world, I saw how few good listeners there are, and it bothered me. "I listen," I reasoned. "Why do so few others make the effort?" Perfect storm brewing, yah? So I wrote a novel about it, because that's what writers do: tell stores about ideas that interest us. I hoped to share the sweetness of all one learns by listening.

I felt God's foot in the middle of my back, nudging me on. I couldn't NOT write
my first collection of healing stories called Divine Ordinariness. It was such joy and freedom to share the beautiful stuff channeling through me. It felt arrogant and not-of-this-world, and compelling, and clear. It taught me a part of each of us that is Spirit, wisdom, Truth. It was so simple, yet so hard to name. It taught me so much.

I just finished a novel called The Listener: A Good Pair of Ears can Drain a Hundred Tongues. I'm looking for a great editor.

I love this question! For me it's learning to listen to a voice within me that's so
deep and so rich, so different from the world's thinking or my ego's ramblings.
It is truer, wiser, freer, and integrating with my whole being.

You too?! I work on a prompt from Natalie Goldberg, or I sit on the deck and wait until that inner voice makes itself heard in my head.
