I have two books I am currently working on. The first is a fantasy book, stylistic to that of Tolkien and Lewis. It has been eleven years in the making, but I am almost finished with it.
The second is a business parable about leadership and relationships. I have found my strengths lie in communicating a story and timeless truths of life, so I am using the fiction genre to put together key leadership and relationship lessons I have learned over the years.

Be a student of great literature and works that move you. Observe how the author uses imagery and particular words to paint the story in your mind. Imitate your favorite author's writing style. As you continue to write, you will find more of your voice coming out as your style of writing becomes defined.

I had started a consulting business in a niche market that was well received. Then the economy tanked in 2008. I found myself waiting for the economy to turn around so I could get back to what I loved to do. When the economy didn't bounce back, I had to ask, "What if the environment I am in right now is my new normal? How do I succeed when what I did before is no longer available?" This was the catalyst for the book.
