I'm currently working on the 3rd Jonathan Cross book, Captain's Kiss. I've got a second book back-burnered called The Day They Came, about first contact with aliens.

Don't be afraid to fail. Keep working at it. Build your world. Spend time with other creative people. If all else fails, have fun with it.

Having a whole world in your hand, a universe of people and new technology to play with is an amazing feeling. It's great when people read your stuff, but the process is such a cool feeling that it's worth the struggle.

Weird answer, but I stop writing. Do something else. Get your mind off it. Stretch, work out, play a game for a set amount of time. Then get back to it. A fresh perspective helps. And if you still can't write after that, write about something else. Even if it's complete garbage, you'll at least be writing.

Easy one. I'd go to Larry Niven's Ringworld. So many species to interact with and so many fun things left over to explore.
