I've never had writer's block, thank heavens. What I do have is 'procrastination'! I'd rather read than write. Once I start writing I enjoy it, but getting the first word typed is the hardest. So I have to tell myself that when I finish 300 words or so, I can read the next chapter in the book I love.

1. Write something every day. The only way to learn to write is to keep writing.
2. Find a group of like minded people (writers' critique group) who will be kind and honest when they read your work. You don't always have to accept their advice but another viewpoint can be helpful.

I'm writing a second book, "Eula May and the Monkey Business," in my cozy, funny mystery series. Eula May discovers another body, this time in a new pet store. A capuchin monkey seems to be the only witness to the crime.

Most of my ideas just come to me. I guess I have an over active imagination. However, I think everything I've read or experienced is squirreled somewhere in my brain even if I'm no longer aware of it. And then when I sit down to write, these buried ideas pop up.
