I don't have a summer reading list, per se, but right now, I'm reading The Lemon Tree, and I have a pile of books I got at a local used bookstore (mostly books in two paranormal series). My summer isn't different from the rest of the year, so it's my normal approach - what catches my eye today? :)

I don't think I can pick just one! Two that come immediately to mind - Stephanie and Joe (I know Ranger makes the triangle at times) from Janet Evanovich; and Nick and Nora Charles from The Thin Man :) I like them both because they are fun, clearly care for each other, and, especially for Nick and Nora, most of the drama happens around them, not as a threat to their relationship.

By life! I've been inspired by dreams, by personal experiences, by snippets of conversations, by just living life. When something captures my interest, I try to write at least the kernel of the idea (or image, line of dialogue, whatever) as soon as possible to expand on later.

I'm currently editing two books, in talks with a publisher about a third, and submitting a story to an anthology for publication next year. Hopefully, all of those will release in 2015.

Hopefully people won't view this as a cop-out answer! My advice for aspiring writers is simple: write. Write often, write anything, write everything. Fiction, nonfiction, academic work, whatever. Just keep writing.

Picking only one thing is tough, but I would have to say that during the process of writing, I most love watching the story unfold and reading it through for the first time in its entirety.

My most recent book is a collection of short stories and poetry with a theme of the supernatural (hence the title, Beyond the Abyss: Tales of the Supernatural), and I had the idea for the book when I realized that I was writing stories that were more connected than they seemed at first glance.
