J.A. Buckle Interesting question. I think maybe Twoflower and Rincewind in Terry Pratchett's The Colour of Magic. They are such opposites, with Twoflower being endearingly naive and seeing the good in everyone whereas Rincewind is so wonderfully cynical. And yet they get on, and through all their adventures come to a mutual respect and, dare I say it, affection!
J.A. Buckle Hi Emily, so pleased you liked the books! Did you read the US version of Half my Facebook friends are ferrets? If so, the US publishers decided to make Josh a year older than he was in the original UK version. The sequels were only published in the UK so follow the first UK book - if that makes sense! Thanks for the feedback, so nice to know books are being enjoyed :-) Best Jackie
J.A. Buckle I take my dog for a walk in the countryside or go watch something by people I find funny like Ricky Gervais, Karl Pilkington, Lee Evans etc. Even if my writer's block is still there I'll have had a good laugh :-)
J.A. Buckle I've just finished the sequel to Facebook Ferrets called "My smoky bacon crisp obsession", which is due out in the UK in April. Proceeds are going to Young Minds, towards their young person's helpline.
J.A. Buckle Feedback is great, especially if it's positive! And especially if it's from kids.
J.A. Buckle Have fun with your writing and become a bit of a people watcher. Take a little notebook and pen round with you if you can. Get others to read your books, but not just your mum or your kids :-)
J.A. Buckle Listening to my kids and their various tales of triumph and woe
