Step 2: get constructive feedback.
Step 3: pay attention to and learn from that feedback, even when you don't agree with all of it (or any of it).
Step 4: use that feedback to improve your work.
Step 5: repeat steps 1-4 until you find yourself changing "happy" to "glad" and "small dog" to "puppy." At that point, get the work out the door.
Step 6: go back to step 1 with a new work.
Ross B. Lampert By sitting down at the keyboard, or with a pad of paper and a pencil, and writing. Waiting for inspiration to strike is unproductive 99%+ of the time. Having an outline helps me when I'm writing something new but it's not a requirement.
