P.L. Byers My advice would be to just write. Don't allow insecurities and negative thoughts in your head stop you. Sit down and start! Secondly I would advise anyone who is an aspiring writer to reach and join groups of other like-minded people. Being around others who share your dream can be so important. And lastly, learn to take criticism. I know that when you finish a book it's like releasing your baby into the world. Hearing negative things is so difficult, but the only way to grow as a writer is to learn to hear the bad along with the good. My editor is so important to my writing career. Even when she suggests re-writes of entire chapters, I know when I'm done, my manuscript is better for having listened to her.
P.L. Byers Inspiration for me comes from different things. My first novel, Divine Intervention, is about a plane crash and two survivors. The inspiration for that book actually came from a flight I was on that was so horrific I was actually afraid we were going to crash. My trilogy about three close friends was inspired by three wonderful friends I have in my life. My newest series actually came to me while I was walking in a beautiful park with my sister in Smithville, Ohio. In my mind I could imagine my heroine running through the woods trying to save her own life. Amazing how just that one walk inspired an entire series!
P.L. Byers I am currently working on the fourth book in my Out of the Darkness Series. As of now the release date is slated for the beginning of October and the newest novel in this series is titled My Only Chance.
