I read the note, and looked at the totally empty house, and realized with a cold flash that when he said goodbye this morning, he meant forever. It just stated, with a slash, "I think I can find better, just someone younger, cuter, funnier, with more appeal."

I'd travel to Anne Rice's world, and hope Louis would be interested in me. Knowing my luck, neither he, nor Lestat would, and the trip would be for nothing. But, I'd still love the chance to meet either in their prime, to interact with them when they were their most hopeful, their most loving, and their most adventurous. Maybe, just maybe... they would be into a forever threesome... and it would have calmed the rift that grew later between them. Who knows?

for my newest book, Switching Through the Forest with Me, I have seen so many Shifter books recently. And YA books come out. And, once again, someone bet me, "Can you do a YA book, without cursing or sex?"
That was my goal. So I thought, what could I do a YA book on, and make it as fun as i could possibly be, without sex or cursing in it? And, within two days, three authors asked their fans, either "Would you like me to do a new shifter book?" or "How would you like me to write a shifter book?"
It was like a sign. lol But I knew a regular shifter story wouldn't work. With so many coming out, and with it being a YA book, it would have to stand out. It would HAVE to be different.
So, I created a SWITCHER. And started giggling instantly. It's a one in a 100th change in the shifter world, that one of the shifters in this one family becomes a SWITCHER on their 16th birthday, at 9 PM.
Of course, the main character WOULD become it, but leading up to it would be the fun. HE was planning on telling his family not only he was gay on his 16th birthday, but he was going to bring his new boyfriend to it, and intro him to his parents, and tell them they are a couple.
His parents are planning on telling his, he could not only become a shifter, but be this wild card, SWITCHER!!
The comedy goes from there, since he does become a switcher, which means, for the rest of his life, every night, he changes, for 24 hours, into something. Man, Woman, Animal..... Keeps his personality. The ability to talk. And whatever form he changes into, never looking like himself again forever.
Will his boyfriend adjust, and think it's like the best roller coaster ride he has ever been on? Will his family go crazier than they already are?
I had so much fun writing this one. ^_^

When I was growing up, I wanted to do something to stand out. I was short (I am only 5' 5" tall.) and I am XXY. None of the other guys really wanted to hang with me, let alone talk with me, lest they be labeled gay too. I did finally make some friends that were girls, but it seemed they were more happy introducing me as their token 'gay' friend. (It's what I thought).
I stayed home a lot, and watching comedy movies, and TV. And started developing a great sense of humor. So much so, I could usually talk my way out of most gay bashings, with a joke or two that made the guys laugh, and they let me go.
I finally met this lady comedian that was in standup, that thought I had a very quick wit, and encouraged me to work on an act. Long story short, because of that wonderful woman, I realized how much I love to make people laugh.
Now, when I hear my characters talk in my head, as I create my books, I just laugh outloud, as i write, hoping against hope, I am still making people laugh to this day, and into the future with my gay comedy books.
That's what inspires me. many fantastic authors write GREAT love and romance gay novels. In all kinds of genres. I want to be a, at least liked, author in the gay comedy genre.
I just want to make people laugh. And feel good about their lives.

My next two books. Someone bet me I couldn't write a serious gay book. EVER!!!! lol. So, I took that bet. I wonder if i can't myself, because I keep wanting to joke in it!! lol But, that one I am keeping secret, because, I am very...well, apprehensive about it. I KNOW I can make people laugh. I do NOT know if I can make people cry. bleh
The other book is another gay comedy, of course. set in the sci/fi super hero world. So far, I am laughing while I am writing it, so, I know it will be my normal goofiness.

Think of a field. People plan all the time, on how to plow it. They research what farm equipment to buy, seeds, time of day to do it, etc... But, turning it over in their heads, don't really get the job done. To plow it, you have to get up, and actually plow it. I do this. And it's simple.
Think of the idea of your book. Once done, map it out. How it will begin. How it will end. Then think through keep points, and make them into chapters.
Do this as a beginning to end graph. (This can change at anytime as you add, and change when inspiration hits you, but at least you have the plan.)
What are you inspired the most right now, as you are dying to write it? One book, I wrote the ending FIRST, knowing I could change it at anytime, but then, I wrote the book to reach what I wrote. LOL
Another time, in my head, I had the idea of a very funny chapter, that was in the middle of the book. Didn't know how to start the book yet, but that chapter was what made me think of writing the whole thing to begin with.
So, I started that book by writing that part FIRST, and then wrote the book around that!!
The idea is to write. Every night. On some part of the book. Wherever you wish. It's your book, and you have it mapped out. Now, fill it out.
Get up, and plow the field. Don't just turn it over in your mind. Overthinking kills it. Write it down. You can always think about it, and change it later.... But, you will have it written down.
That's the point. ^_^

It gives me a chance to fulfill my dream, of making people laugh. bows. I lost that chance, when I lost my confidence in being a standup comic after a gay bashing. But, now, when people state, "One of the funniest things I ever read." I actually cry. I know I will never gain that timing and confidence again to be onstage to do an act. But, in a way, each book, is me still hoping, and trying to make people feel good, and laugh some. And that's all I ever wanted to do. I know I am not Hemingway. I know I will never write the "Great American Novel'. But, I am just glad, I can make people laugh. Bottom line, is that so wrong? [blush]

I have two or three books going at once. If I come to a blockage (Where I need to think through to where I need to with the dialogue or story), I stop, save, and switch to my other book for a bit.
I never stop writing. This advice was given to me by a comic friend. To keep the humor flowing, she always keeps a pad with her. Everywhere, even by her bedside, so if she wakes up from a dream that was funny, she instantly jots it down. She is constantly coming up with fresh material for her standup.
That was my first goal, to be a standup also, but a gay bashing, after an early open mic curtailed that. And I turned to writing after my hospital visit. It shook my timing to be on stage. Once you lose that, you can't do your act anymore, and make people laugh as freely.
But, I found, I can, writing it into my books. Which I am thrilled to do, and so very pleased people like them. Even if they don't, if they laughed while reading it, I still feel good, knowing I made someone laugh. I still fulfilled a dream of mine. [blush]
