I do different things. Sometimes taking a short break helps, just to get up and get blood flowing. Many times I'll walk or drive as I mull over a portion of writing that just doesn't seem right. If I really want to hunker down and get lots of writing done, I need to remove all distractions. I've found that finding a quiet place in the library helps since I really don't have a place for a "writer's retreat." You just have to make the most of what's available to you.

My book, "Extraordinary Lives of Ordinary Fools," is an inspirational autobiography of one chapter in my life. The "idea" to write it came from 1) my desire to create a written record of this life chapter for my children and others in my family, 2) others who told me for two decades that I needed to write my story, and 3) my hope that others will gain inspiration and encouragement from reading my story.
