Maisha Davis While working as a wardrobe assistant with the worlds largest traveling fashion show, after shows I would go to my hotel room and my roommate and I would order pizza and watch the Daily Show. (Sidenote: The thought of that show without Jon Stewart sends me to a dark place.)

Before our Christmas break we had a holiday party. I was totally surprised that the models had prepared choreographed dances, monologues, and skits to entertain the group during the party. I thought to myself, "You mean to tell me you guys are productive after the shows?" Then I proceeded to curse myself out for being such a slug after work. The day we got back on the bus for the second leg of the tour is the day I started writing what is now "I Just Wanted to be a Fashion Designer."

So, I am inspired to write out of shame. LOL
Maisha Davis Currently working on sewing more, and writing a fiction book based on my experience traveling with the Ebony Fashion Fair. (Nine months traveling the US with a bus full of models . . . JUICY!)
Maisha Davis Just start writing, and be honest. Even if it's fiction you're writing, use your honest voice.
Maisha Davis Keeping track of how many times I use google to learn new words while I write. So far the one day record is 30.
Maisha Davis I don't try to force it. I watch TV instead of staring at my laptop.
Maisha Davis I was mentally reliving my experiences during the years of relentlessly pursuing a career in fashion. And after the tears stopped, I started to laugh. When I talked to my friends and family about all of the ups and downs they would usually listen in disbelief (with hand over open mouth). That's when I knew a book might not be a bad idea.
