Erin S. Riley Hi Sharleena,
Thanks for your question--I know many readers have been frustrated with the delay. I apologize for the wait! Odin's Shadow is scheduled for release the first of the year. The good news is, I've finished the second book in the series, A Flame Put Out, so the wait shouldn't be as long for that one.

Erin
Erin S. Riley I've had the Sons of Odin series in my head since 2007. I love Vikings and was reading about berserkers one day. I suddenly realized that berserkers were actually suffering from a mental illness. My background is in psychology and counseling, so it felt like everything came together for me. I saw a flash of Alrik: a big blond man with his arms crossed and a smirk on his face, and eyes hiding a lifetime of insecurity. I knew I had to write about him.
Erin S. Riley Everything inspires me! Human nature is fascinating. Whenever I have an interesting interaction with someone, I file it away in my head for future use in a book.
Erin S. Riley I recently finished the second book in the Sons of Odin series, A Flame Put Out. I have the third book, Oath Breaker, completely written in my head but I haven't had a chance to start on it yet! I go into "mom mode" from July until November with my son's football schedule. I plan to start Oath Breaker the day football season is over.
Erin S. Riley 1. Read a lot, in many different genres. Good books have things in common.
2. Do your research before you start writing, but don't get all your information from one source.
3.If writing a historical novel, read books/sagas/poetry written in that actual time period to get a good feel for the culture.
4. Write what you're passionate about, not just what you think will sell.
5. Develop a thick skin!
Erin S. Riley Getting the characters on paper and making them "real." Then having a conversation with someone who is excited about the characters, and eager for the next book! That's the best part--being able to share what's in my head with readers.
Erin S. Riley I don't know--it hasn't happened yet!
