I draw all of my inspiration from my Alfa-beta-reader who is also my BFF, confidant and honest-to-goodness critic. I've never met her in person or even heard the sound of her voice. She lives 2,500 miles away from me on the other side of Australia with her wife and two small children. From the moment she read the first of my short stories she's encouraged me to write more and more, and then to consider publishing. Her wife proof-reads all of my work and my wife does all the editing. I am truly blessed.

It also provides a good therapy in that it allows me to escape from my own life and immerse myself in the lives of my characters. Then, when I return to my own life - which can sometimes feel like 'Groundhog Day' - I feel recharged and ready to resume.

Otherwise, I talk things over with my beta reader and best friend; even when I don't like hearing what she has to say about what I've written. Often, the answer is in the re-write.
