Jody Mabry Hi Dennis. I'm sorry to hear you didn't receive the book. I sent you an email with the address supplied to me for verification. Once I know I have the right address I'll send another copy your way.
Jody Mabry Hi Stef!
Funny you mention The Famous Five. I read a lot of those books when I was younger, also Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew. It's been so long I hadn't even thought of that series. I hope you enjoy. There are a couple more books in the series coming out this year. I'd love to hear your feedback when done!

Keep in touch!
Jody Mabry A writer has the ability to control their world. You have the ability to invent and be creative. Your imagination is your only limit and that is an incredible thing. I remember reading the Prydain Chronicles by Lloyd Alexander when I was in the 8th grade. When I finished the five-book series I cried. I bawled! I loved those characters and did't want them, my close friends, to ever leave. Even at that young age I knew I nothing less than to influence people the way Lloyd Alexander influenced me.
Jody Mabry Most of my books I write as a ghostwriter. But, for myself I write middle grade and young adult. Typically, my stories are centered around adventure, treasure, and the unknown, as well as those curious early girl-crushes.

The Treasure at Devil's Hole was a culmination of my life. People, secret places, adventures, and the young lust of treasure. The book starts with Bug's older brother Tom digging a hole. That story is directly taken from a real-life event from when my dad was a kid. While it is only a small portion of the book, it starts and ends the entire story, much like a frame holds together a beautiful painting.
Jody Mabry I once had a friend tell me they only write when they are inspired. I asked how much they'd written. "Five pages," he told me. I was impressed. "In three years."

Well, unfortunately that is how it is. It's rare to be naturally inspired (it happens, but rare). To set the mood for me, I like a rainy morning at about 3:00 AM when everyone is still asleep. I'll crack a window to a cool spring breeze. While I don't live in the city, I remember loving to look out over Loring Park in Minneapolis as the rain fell through the streetlamps, and the occasional car splashed puddles onto the sidewalk, and a casual walker skipped over cement cracks.
Jody Mabry I always have a lot going on. I am finishing two books simultaneously in the "Bug" Mosser series. I have a paranormal TV series which should be coming out in the next couple years. An adult thriller, and a series of UFO novels I am working on with a colleague.
Jody Mabry This is an easy one. Write, write, write. Although, I don't think that's mine :) Writing is big, but when you think you are done, you will have editing and then publishing. Whether you choose to publish traditionally or self-publish you will need to learn how to market and get used to rejection. So the formula is simple: 1. Write, 2. Edit, 3. Publish, 4. cry...a lot, 5. Publish.
Jody Mabry I think writing anything, even if I am writing garbage is better than nothing. I think what happens is that it is too easy to become distracted and when that happens it is all the more important to push through. Every book or story I've worked on I have felt a sense of writer's block. The best technique I've had is telling myself I will write a certain number of words in each sitting. I typically go for 1500, but then I've also chosen odd-ball numbers. When I hit that number, mid-sentence or not, I just stop. That way when I come back to the story the following day I can be creative with how I start. Especially if I am starting a new day mid-sentence.
