What books are on your summer reading list this year?
Caroline Eubanks So many! I just got a copy of The Magnetic Girl and I can't wait to read it. I'm also excited to read some travel books like Dark Skies and A Culinary History of Atlanta.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Caroline Eubanks Seeing your work on the page/screen, telling stories that aren't being talked about, and ideally changing perceptions about a place someone may think they know.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Caroline Eubanks So much advice! I've written a few posts about it, linked below. First is to know your worth. You don't have to write for free "for exposure." There are publications out there that pay (albeit a small amount) for newbie writers. Second is to accept criticism as it's an important part of the industry. Third is to learn the business side, especially invoicing and expenses. The last, and most important, part of being a writer is being in charge of your own rewards and self care. There aren't incentives like at other jobs for hard work. Treat yourself to a massage or special dinner once you turn in a big project. Good luck!

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Caroline Eubanks I get outside and go for a walk, usually with my dog. Sometimes I just need to clear my head before heading back to the computer.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Caroline Eubanks I've spent the last few years traveling the world and found that people knew very little about where I was from. Both the United States and abroad have a lot of misconceptions about the American South. I wanted to share my love for the region's music, food, and culture beyond the headlines.
