My most recent book, The Woman Who Fell To Earth, began as a seed idea many years ago, but the book came to fruition with the recent death of David Bowie. I immediately knew how to craft the story to an inspiring, meaningful piece of literature.

The best thing about being a writer is being able to bring characters to life. You create these people/animals/beings/etc., breathe life into them and make people really care what happens. It's like having a baby but being able to control their every move. Ha!

My favorite fictional couple are brothers Tristan and Siegfried Farnon from the All Creatures anthology. They are not quite fictional, since the stories are based on real life, but those two are such polar opposites and cause each other such grief, but there is an underlying bond of brotherly love that really holds them together. And how each has his own relationship with James Herriot is brilliant as well.

I am currently working on a quirky, contemporary fiction piece where an everyday loser finds a beautiful woman who apparently dropped from the skies. There is plenty of mystery and humor, and I'm hoping for a surprise or two along the way.

I always loved writing, but I began writing children's books when I had my own child. We visited the library often, but she only wanted to read books about animals. I found so few books about animals that were told in a fun, story-like fashion, that I decided to write them myself. I wrote them just for home use, with sketches drawn in Sharpie on copy paper, but later had enough encouragement from others to take it to the professional level.
