Hello Andy, sorry it's taken so long to get back to you. The photo is at Erg Chebbi which is a massive collection of sand dunes in the Sahara on the Moroccan / Algerian border. Well worth the visit!

I think if I always waited until I was inspired to write not much would be written. You have to be disciplined and sit down and write regardless of whether you're feeling especially inspired or not. Bum glue is about the most inspiration you need.

I've just started to think about the sequel to Archie and the Lost Tomb. I'm keen to avoid simply repeating the same story as before while maintaining the characters that I think people have come to love. So thinking about location, history and what story I can wrap around this. I'm not too worried about the ploy just yet, I find that the plot tends to look after itself along the way.

I love the idea that I can create a world. I decide who's in the story, what they look like, what sights and sounds they experience. I get to design cities and then tear across them in a car of my choice. I can change history and invent the future. Also, it's a lot better than working in a cubicle looking at a spreadsheet.

I've never really suffered from writer's block. If anything, I have the opposite problem - there's too much to write down and the fingers can't keep up. I find that if I am struggling with an aspect of the story, I step away from the computer and go for a long walk. It's amazing how often an answer will then appear, especially when you're not even thinking about it. Consciously at least.
