Joyce Hertzoff She climbed aboard the pirate ship but no one else appeared above decks, so she descended the stairs to the hold. The lowest step was broken, causing her to fall face down in a pool of someone else's blood.
Joyce Hertzoff I fixed that yesterday, but maybe I did something wrong. In any event, my email is jhertzof@gmail.com. I have a pdf copy and a .epub version. Will either of those do?
Joyce Hertzoff Many of the places I read about aren't very pleasant, but I'd love to see the sites in Alaska that appear in the Kate Shugak novels by Dana Stabenow. I'd love to witness breakup that happens with the spring-summer thaw and meet the characters in Kate's life.
Joyce Hertzoff I've finally started the Expanse series - probably a third of the way through book two - so I'll be continuing that. Also, a book club I'm in is reading The Cuckoo's Calling, J.K. Rowling's first Cormaron Strike mystery, and I'm enjoying it so much, I'll read the rest of that series. There are bound to be other books I'll add to the list.
Joyce Hertzoff Unfortunately, there are no mysteries in my life. It would be great to get inspiration from it. Oh, I've done some interesting things over my many years, had a career and a family, traveled, read and learned about diverse things. I'm still looking for new experiences. Joyce Hertzoff This is hard to answer because I have so many, and more and more over the years. Some longtime favorites are Jo and Mr. Bhaer, Lord Peter and Harriet Vane, and Westley and Buttercup.
Joyce Hertzoff I enjoy exploring the plot ideas and characters that invade my mind. I also enjoy it when those characters help me write the story.
Joyce Hertzoff I wanted to write a story about the contrasts between a less-industrialized world and Earth, and decided to use portals for characters to pass from one to the other. The result was A Bite of the Apple. The title has both metaphorical and literal meaning for the hero, Anabet Haines, but I didn't realize that when I first started the story.
Joyce Hertzoff Read a lot. Write a lot. Join a critique group, either in your area or online.
There are several great books on writing, depending on your genre, and whether you want to write flash fiction, short stories or novels.
Joyce Hertzoff I keep writing, whatever comes to mind. I might use it or not. Usually, I'm working on several stories at a time, so if I hit a snag with one, I go on to another.
Joyce Hertzoff The third book in the Crystal Odyssey series, which started with The Crimson Orb. I'm also working on a portal story, and a contemporary thriller.
