J.M. Northup I had a horrible craving for coffee, so I dragged myself from my bed toward the kitchen. However, when I got there, I realized I was out of my coveted sweet cream!
J.M. Northup I have a HUGE to-be-read list that is constantly growing larger. Right now, I have IDIOT by Laura Clery, THE POWER OF PRAYING FOR YOUR ADULT CHILDREN by Stormie Omartian, and THOU SHALT NOT KILT by Liam Ashe.
J.M. Northup I apologize for such a long delay. I am still learning all the layers to Good Reads. I don't come on here as often as I ought to, but... I wanted to suggest a book for you, if you are still interested. It is only 99 cents too!

J.M. Northup The Fears of Dakota series was born from the questions and suggestions of my readers. My debut novel, FEARS OF DARKNESS was well received, but my readers wanted to know more. I had deliberately eluded to or excluded some things just for the time considerations of the novel. Well, the series was born from the desires to have the things that didn't fit into the original novel.
A RIPPLE OF FEAR is the prequel and it leads you into the war, explaining the build up and introduces you to the families that were lost. It also shows you the moment when Chris and Dakota moved from friend to lovers.
Books 3 and 4 will cover some of the major events that happened, but in more detail (I don't want to give any spoilers so I don't know how much to say really). Then I plan book 5 to be the sequel, explaining life after FEARS OF DARKNESS.
J.M. Northup I am currently working on my first middle grade genre novel and Books Three and Four in my The Fears of Dakota series.
J.M. Northup I generally don't get writer's block. Being an experienced actress, I build the character and write from that person's perspective. That seems to help the story flow. Of course, I am also a big believer in stepping away from your work intermittently from time to time, taking a break so you can re-approach it with a fresh take.
J.M. Northup Writing is very personal and it is such a wonderful creative outlet. For me, the best part about writing is that I get to have so many adventures and live so many different lives!
Answering this same question as a professional author, I would say that the best thing about my decision to publish is the people I've been fortunate enough to meet. I have enjoyed talking to people about literature - whether it pertained to my books or not - and I have been blessed with some amazing new friendships!
