The construction of a sentence can influence how you impact a reader's emotions, knowledge and understanding. It's a mighty sword that can be wielded to result in many different outcomes. That power can be addictive.

I was in the shower doing the usual business, when I picked up my razor to shave my shins. I lost my balance and tumbled through the glass severing my arm.

Recently a mysterious man entered my life, looking for a romantic relationship. Yet, whenever we made plans, he cancelled them for a wide myriad of reasons. And throughout the time that I knew him, he had a variety of odd and unexplained illnesses and physical injuries. I am still scratching my head. It was one of the most bizarre set of encounters that I have ever witnessed.

When I force myself to write, the product is, well, forced. Other days, writing comes naturally. It's the natural days the result in prose that I enjoy reading the next day and years later. You could say that when the writing flows it is inspired but I can't determine the reason. What I can say is that on days that my writing is forced, it feels like I'm working through a deeper understanding of the information; as if I'm rearranging it in my mind.

Hi Bonnie, My assistant sent the books out already. I think it may just be due to the Christmas mail delays. Please let me know when you get your copy in hand. Glad you're looking forward to receiving it!

The editorial who worked on my first book, pulled several chapters on the topic of financial planning. Not the usual, save more/spend less topics but topics like caring for aging parents, what to do once you've paid off your mortgage, and educating your children about finance. I am compiling these topics along with a few others into a new book to be released soon.

Can I say that I take the adage, "write drunk, edit sober," to heart? Just kidding! I have always found that you have to have 'space' in your brain in order to be creative. If your days are full of must-do's, you don't have the energy or inclination to be creative. The Artist's Way is a book that I've followed with great results for finding room in my life for creativity. I highly recommend it.

It's a funny thing: once my first book was published, I still choked on calling myself an author. I imagine that this is the same mental hurdle that prevents people from taking the leap from wanting to be a writer to actually writing and publishing. The best advice I can offer is to just take the first logical step, followed by the next, and plow on through.

After managing an investment practice for more than 20 years, I originally wanted to write a handbook for newer investment practitioners, on how to effectively manage a practice and the nuances of investment structures and fees in today's marketplace. Ultimately, one of the Women's investment clubs that I manage, convinced me to create a handbook for them, promoting financial literacy to all investors, dispelling the finer points on the mistakes that many people make and how to avoid them, in an approachable and readable format.
