Howdy Terence,
We are back writing, but it is actually a new book. full novel. We are hoping to be able to share more once we have more done. But we are definitely excited about it. Hoping to get back to the Echoes at some point though.

Hi Emma!
The books all run parallel, with the exception of Faith and Moonlight, which is set five years earlier. Each series from Echoes of the Ascended can work on their own, but there are definitely some things you'll notice if you read them all.
A Reaper of Stone is the first we wrote, and as such, i think is a nice place to start, but if you have a preference for a certain type of story, then look at one of the others.
Reaper is more epic fantasy
Rend the Dark is more fantasy/horror
Best Left in the Shadows is fantasy crime/noir
Faith and Moonlight is a YA sword school story.
whatever you choose to start with, we hope you enjoy them!

We release a novella a month, so we are always working on something. Right now, it is the second book featuring Elinor, the main character from A Reaper of Stone. It will likely be out early next year.
But at the same time, we have Rend the Dark coming October 15, and two more novellas to finish out 2015 before that one comes out. Lots of stuff.

The two biggest things we have learned:
1) You know all those tired old chestnuts authors trot out as advice? "Just write!" "Writing is rewriting" stuff like that. Yeah, turns out all that crap is actually really true. Who knew?
2) Professionals in their field are professionals for a reason. If possible, utilize them. Editors, designers, etc. Yes, you can do it yourself, but it will require a tremendous amount of time and effort for you to get to the level that is likely not as good as theirs anyway. We have a team for our novellas, and we are learning to love them like family.

One of the many great things about writing as a team is that when one of you goes down, the other can pick things up and keep running. Bouncing ideas back and forth between Joe and I usually serves to get things unstuck.
The other solution I like is to think of the most ridiculous thing that your character would do, and force yourself to write that for twenty minutes. Commit to it like someone has a gun to your head. After that twenty minutes, you will either have broken your block or have an amazing outtake for your blog.
