For me, the best thing about being a writer is possessing the creative license to make the world exactly as we wish it to be, the freedom to envision and then put pen to paper (OK that makes me sound old...put fingers to a keyboard). There really is nothing quite like it.

I find my creativity becomes "unstuck" when I am in motion. A good walk in a beautiful setting generally does the trick...that and getting lost in a random spot in one of the old classics. My go-to favourite is Jane Eyre.

While researching my earlier books, I came upon the history of British Home Children and was both fascinated and saddened by their experiences. While well-intentioned, the efforts in securing good homes for the children in need were quite unsuccessful for most of the children involved.
