Remainder-less Extinction
An unpredictable large 'bloom' of CO2 and methane descended on Arizona's central valley, encapsulating the population of Phoenix. A nurse at a central hospital drags an oxygen tank from a deceased patient to the roof, and looking down on the chaos of accidents and scores of dead bodies on sidewalks and roads, she asks herself, "am I the last?" as the needle on the tank descends to zero.

I'd go to the world of Oz. I'd be a godmother for sure. Hang out in a big big tree, that has a deep wide and tall crevice at its bottom that I could fashion into a one room home. I'd cook up soups from all the eatable things I could find on the forest's floor -- like arugula and ferns and mushrooms -- even good magic ones. I'd be friendly and welcoming to wayfarers who adventure through and stop, and I'd do my best to bring them great good cheer. I'd also counsel them to remember that Oz is Oz. S/he works with the heart. S/he surrounds those people with good energy who offer good energy to others, and chaotic energy to those who scrabble and "take", who are in life "to get"...not give. S/he admires those who go with the flow, who know gratitude for the life they have. I'd wake up with the birds and sleep with the moon.

The outstanding mystery in my life is how and when and where I will die.
Now I could write a book on unraveling that mystery! Or -- and I've thought of this -- I could pen a book about how I will plan on leaving my body, not leaving it to mystery at all. I could write about how I might avoid THE mystery that faces every one of us and why...

Because I am with the book I'm reading completely -- A Little Life -- by Hanya Yanagihara -- in the moment I can answer this question with a couple of friends who are in Hanya's universe/ world -- Jude and Willem. This is an astonishing work. And Jude and Willem are two people who do their best to explore what a life of love looks like!

My most recent book came up through my heart...It was such an obvious book to work on...And once I began writing it, it stayed on with me for a few years. I keep on being with it until it finally said no more.

I'm always writing. I wake up writing. I'm always inspired to write something -- words/ideas/sentences arrive as I'm opening my eyes.

I'm sitting still and inwardly playing with different ideas. Nothing has grabbed me yet...but I know something will arrive and I know I'll know it when it arrives.

What is an aspiring writer? If you're a writer you write and you're a writer.
That's it. Just stay one with the words, with the sentences, the paragraphs. Have fun. Learn about yourself -- what turns you on? What fascinates you? What do you want to know about? Work on your writing, edit it. Don't be lazy. Go over your work a hundred times. Hone it down. refine it, Learn patience. Use writing to learn about patience, and beauty and music. Learn about your beats.

As a writer I'm learning all the time....and also I get to peel away at the layers that keep me from more deeply seeing/feeling/integrating aspects of being alive, of being this life.
As a writer I learn more about what I know --I'm often surprised at words that arrive on a page, in a line.
I learn more about what I think about something ( wow-- I think that? Believe that?)
I learn more about what I've been picking up through all of my senses..
And I get to play with how best to articulate all that....What words in what combination, in what rhythm....to evoke what??!!

I sit in it. I play with ideas. I walk. I make notes. I become still and listen to my heart. I watch myself -- where/what fires me up? Where's my inner GPS (god's positioning system) pointing?
