Hi Cintia,
Thank you for your letter. I think you need to spend some time thinking about whether you really want to be a writer, despite all the mountains and pitfalls you will face along the way. No profession is easy and every one of them take a lot of hard work, time and dedication to be in any way successful. If you still want to be a writer after considering all of the obstacles in your way, then I say go for it and stop reading/listening to all the negative things that are preventing you from moving forward. The opinions of strangers don't matter. Write the book that you want to write and write it from the heart. Forget about what you've read about the industry. Forget about the competition and the disheartening statistics. Write what comes from the heart and you will feel satisfaction like you've never known.
As for ideas, think about the kind of story you want to read and then write that book! Don't try to write what you think might sell or follow a current trend. Trends change. Write the story you want to write. Forget about everything else.
Best of luck Chris xx

In fact, my very first book, The Profiler, dealt with a real-life situation I faced many years ago. Without giving away the plot, let me tell you, it was a scary situation! It was the inspiration for the mystery in this book.

I give myself a few hours off and go and enjoy a coffee/lunch with friends. We often end up discussing my plot and the problem I have with it. Somehow, I always come back to my desk knowing exactly which direction to take! I love my friends!

My all time favorite fictional couple come from my all time favorite novel - A Rose in Winter, by Kathleen Woodiwiss. The heroine is so beautiful, kind and spirited and the hero just melts my heart. While this is a historical romance, it is a love affair for all time. It's a five star read! Check it out today!

My latest book, The Perfect Husband, is due for release on 1 November, 2015. It tackles the very real topic of domestic violence. It's been an issue I've wanted to write about for a long time. It's funny how in Australia in recent weeks, this very topic has been on the top of many news bulletins. My story is coincidentally very timely.

Hi Rebecca,
Lovely to hear from you and I'm honoured that you chose one of my books for your book club. I do have discussion questions for many of the Munro books. Can you tell me which one you've read for your book club?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
Chris Taylor

I get inspiration from anything and everything. Sometimes it can be the lyrics of a song that sparks an idea or a line from a TV show. Once, I saw an ad in the classifieds that intrigued me and gave me an idea for a story. My biggest problem is too many ideas and too little time...

Never, ever forget how much you love to write. It will help you get through the rejections and the times when you want to give up. At the end of the day, it's all about the writing...

I've always loved creating stories. I love being able to create heroes I can fall in love with and strong, beautiful women who are their equals. I love the excitement of a suspense/thriller and the happily-ever-after of a romance. To write romantic suspense is a wonderful combination of the two.
