What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Josephine O'Brien Freedom. Freedom to imagine. As an inveterate 'people watcher', I often long to know what's going on with the people I'm watching.When I'm writing, they show me their most intimate thoughts and make me privy to the details and dramas of their lives...... what fun!!

Josephine O'Brien Just do it! Don't keep waiting for the right time or place, or when the kids are on holiday, or anything else. Just start... NOW!

How do you get inspired to write?
Josephine O'Brien So far, (Hastily knocks on wood!) I haven't looked for inspiration. The stories are all there, waiting, impatiently!

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Josephine O'Brien Clichéd, beyond clichéd! It was a fragment of a dream. I actually was Gaiah, being sent to Scotland to grandparents that I knew had disappeared without trace a long time ago, but no one else seemed to remember it. It was really weird!
