My favorite fictional couple of the moment is the couple from Dashiell Hammett's The Thin Man. Since I got married, I have been fascinated by marriages, and theirs is a good one.
All the particulars of the novel are forgotten, but I remember they are funny together. They drink an awful lot. They are in a novel called The Thin Man.
I also like the couple in Nicholson Baker's The Anthologist and Traveling Sprinkler.
Here's another one: Giovanni and the protagonist from Giovanni's Room.

I don't have to get inspired. I have children, and so my access to writing time is severely limited. I never seem to have the time to write all the things I want to write, and so I always have a backlog of projects I want to get to, some of which I'll never get to, I am coming to realize. There are things I want to write that I'll never write, because I'll die before I find the time to write them. So I'm always inspired, but I'm always really depressed about inspiration.
