Alex Hoffer My knee-jerk reaction is Hobbiton. I think I'm at least half-way to already being a hobbit. I'm ridiculously short, have a little too much hair on my feet, and all I want is to be left alone to eat and drink. And let's face it, is there anything more appealing than hobbit smiels/homes?
Alex Hoffer My stories always start with the characters, about who I want to interact with, and then trying to find a portion of their life that I should present. The characters usually come to me at that gray state of night when I'm just about to fall asleep.
Alex Hoffer I've always struggled with meeting new people and making friends, so when I was younger, being a writer was about having friends and constant companions when we were moving every year. Now that I'm older, it's less about having those things for myself as wanting to create those friends and companions and escapism for others.
Alex Hoffer I've found that if I'm stuck, it means there is something I need to go back and correct. Usually it means I've created some kind of error in the story's timeline flow or I did a bad job representing a character's actions. Once I find it and correct it, I can continue on.
