T.H. Dillon Exercise. Meditation. Drinking.

But only two of those are healthy choices.

Honestly, I find the best way to deal with writer's block is to do something that allows you to free your mind while also being focused internally and ignoring outside distractions. That for me, is usually going for a walk, working out while listening to some music, or just closing my eyes and meditating to some relaxing music.

It's important to mentally "center" yourself on a regular basis, or you'll run the risk of falling flat with whatever it is you're attempting to do.
T.H. Dillon Creating an environment that you control. An environment where you can get out whatever issues you might have at the time. What you can't do in real life....you can do in the fictional world you create. And it feels damn good to get that release.

But also, there is no substitute for being your own boss. Not having to "punch a clock" every day for someone else. It's worth all of the crap that comes with being a writer, if you can make a living with it.
T.H. Dillon Have a thick skin. If you have a fragile psyche....stay out of the business. No matter what you write, how well you write it, or how good it actually may be....there will always, always, ALWAYS!....be people that want to criticize it, bash it, trash you, or try to knock you down. Unfortunately, that is the society we're living in right now in America. Be prepared to ignore it, and if you can't....stay away from publishing your writing, and focus on building up your mental strength instead.
T.H. Dillon Anything you see listed on Goodreads that I haven't published yet.....and a few things nobody knows about yet. I'm always at work on several different ideas.
T.H. Dillon Things happen in life, and my mind says "that'd make for a good story if...", and then I start to fill out the story around the skeleton of an idea. I guess that is "inspiration".
T.H. Dillon From my life. Everything I write is in some way inspired by things that have happened in real life.
