Bethany Bull We went to a snake park in South Africa recently and when I got home the idea of a snake and a mouse came to me, I then sat down with my pen and notebook and the story flowed from there.' Slithering Sam and his Broken Tail'
Bethany Bull I hear or see something, just a word and then I write the story from that. I will give an example: I was at a picnic one day and I noticed an ant walking over the blanket with a huge crumb in his mouth, suddenly the name of the story just popped into my head ' Anthony the ant and his two princesses' when I got home I put pen to paper and started writing, the story just flowed.
Or if I hear a word I like, example: golden wings, I wrote a story from that.
Bethany Bull I have just finished book four of my children's chapter books and I have started on book five. I am also doing a series and two teenage novellas
Bethany Bull Look and listen and read, read and read. I started reading at a very early age and I found it helped with imagination and skill of words.
Bethany Bull Writing for children, I love to write for them as their imaginations are so great and they are so trusting. They believe if I say my snake talks and he befriends a mouse.. simple! I can kill off 'badies' with no problems and I always have a hero. How wonderful is that?!!
Bethany Bull I luckily have not had writer's block, I find the minute I put my pen on my note pad the story will flow. I always start a story with one word, either I will notice something of someone will say something. I grab the word and write. For example: I was at a picnic not long ago and noticed an ant crawling over my blanket with a huge crumb and instantly the heading of the story popped into my mind ' Anthony and the two Princesses' and when I got home the story just flowed. lol
Bethany Bull As my books are for children and fairy tail-ish, I have to kill off 'the badies' and it makes me feel good!! lol
