Connie Almony Nope! Funny thing just happened. When I tried to answer this Goodreads question with a single word (Nope!) and submitted it, I received this error message: "Sorry, your answer is too short. Longer answers are more popular with readers, and even “yes or no” answers are more interesting with more detail." Evidently the asker of this question would also not want a "two sentence horror story." It would not be popular with readers and much less interesting.
Connie Almony The idea for At the Edge of a Dark Forest began as a project with my critique partners to write fairy tales without magic. I've always loved the story of Beauty and the Beast, but I needed a way for the main character to be a "beast" and be transformed. I'd done a series on military ministries on my blog Livingthebodyofchrist.blogspot.com and have since been astounded by the sacrifices military members and their families have made for our country, and the awesome resource these ministries are for them. I wanted to write something to honor our heroes and point them to the best source of healing. So this story came to being.
Connie Almony I'm a big Christian music fan. I usually have a Christian band as my muse for each manuscript. For At the Edge of a Dark Forest, it was NEEDTOBREATHE. For my first manuscript it was Third Day. I have one Tenth Avenue North manuscript and my current work-in-progress is a David Crowder Band story.
Connie Almony A story about a pastor with a past who uses his underworld connections to try and save the child of a woman he wronged many years ago.
Connie Almony Write what God puts on your heart to write.
Connie Almony I'm never disappointed with how the story ends!
Connie Almony I journal the scene as if I were the character recounting the day. Very free-flowing. This gives me ideas of what would be important from the character's point of view, helping me to get in her head.
