Eileen Troemel The original Wayfarer series is complete with the prequel Wayfarer Aegis and the 18 full length novels. I am working on a spinoff from this series and hope to have it out in 2025.
Eileen Troemel It's Monday morning and there's no coffee.
Eileen Troemel To pick one is very difficult. There are several which come to mind. I'd love to spend a day in the Harry Potter world - am I a muggle or not? I love the way JD Robb has created her vision of our world - Roarke could read the dictionary to me - or other more exciting things. Piers Anthony has a lovely imagination and I'd love to visit Xanth or almost any of his other worlds. If I'm looking at the worlds in my own stories, I'd love to sit and crochet with Adara or hang out with Dewi or Mallory.
Eileen Troemel There is a crochet book which talks about free form crochet - Crochet Workbook. Other than that, I'm open to most things. Right now I'm focused on creating crochet patterns so reading isn't on my radar - today. My daughter is a librarian so she brings me all sorts of good options.
Eileen Troemel There are family stories which intrigue me enough to want to make them into a story. I have a great grandmother who came from Ireland at 16. There are interesting questions surrounding life. Also I have a great grandfather who was supposed to have come on a ship as a baby but his parents died. However, no proof has been found to confirm or deny it. This also intrigues me. My three uncles were in different branches of the military in the 50s and 60s. These life events could all make it into a plot for a book at some point.
Eileen Troemel Yes it is mulling in my head. I've got several scenes in mind just trying to finish off the Defenders series first. After I finish the third Defenders book (I hope to do this soon) I'll be working on the next Wayfarer and the next Dragon Clan book.
Eileen Troemel Always and never are absolutes... I don't know if EVERY writer is a dreamer. There are certainly a lot of skilled writers out there. I am a dreamer. Society has made me realistic and grounded but given the freedom to just be, I'm a dreamer. I work hard to take my life from a dream (which is a some day type thing) to actual goals. When you do this, it takes a dream and puts concrete steps to attain whatever it is you're trying to accomplish.

Some of my earliest memories though were of making up stories to get myself to go to sleep. I'd make up people and situations in my head to tell myself a bed time story I guess so that my mind would calm and sleep. I'm still doing that except I'm writing them down and sharing them with my readers... I hope they enjoy them as much as I do...
Eileen Troemel My books are called Moments in Life, Moments in Nature, and Moments in Spirit. Generally there is something that clicks in my head that sets off my poetic muse. One morning, I was walking to my car and the light in my garage went out. There was that moment where I just stood in the dark. From that moment, the phrase Standing in the Dark stuck in my head. When I got to work, I spent less than ten minutes writing about Standing in the Dark. It is one of my favorite poems. Something has to click, I work on the fifth floor of a building from 7:45 in the morning to 5 at night. I have a little slit of a window next to my desk. The nice thing for me is outside my window is a university campus that has embraced keeping nature on campus. I see the changing seasons, from the dark green of the pine trees contrasting with the white snow (right now) to amazing sunsets and sun rises.

At the same time, I was asked to write something for a friend's wedding. I asked each of them to give me ten words to describe their partner. I had a lovely conversation with them about each other. From that I created a poem that I read at their wedding. They loved it. It turned out well and gave them a special memory. I on the other hand was so nervous I couldn't hear the wedding because my ears were ringing because I had to read in front of a hundred people... it was my first time reading my poetry to a group.
Eileen Troemel I just finished Wayfarer 9. I have both 8 & 9 in the edit phase and am working on publishing several short stories. Defenders 3 is in my writing pile. I have about 30,000 words done and am writing battle scenes so I can finish this series.
Eileen Troemel My inspiration comes from a variety of places. Nature, life, movies, books, tv, my own imagination are all sources from which I draw. I can have a conversation with one of my daughters and suddenly I've got a story idea. Or I can watch a show (movie or tv) and see how two characters interact and think how I would make them interact differently.
Eileen Troemel The Dragon Lord's Mate started as a short story from a type of interaction I wanted to play with. In my head, it was going to be a short story to play with the characters. As I wrote I discovered a world I love, characters - both good and bad - who fascinate me, and a story I couldn't get on paper fast enough.
Eileen Troemel Don't stop writing even if you are rejected. Rejection is a daily occurrence. Keep working, refining, and honing your craft. Kathy Ireland said in an interview, "If you aren't being rejected regularly, maybe you aren't trying hard enough." This is something every author has to live by.
Eileen Troemel If I can't write a scene in a book, it is because I need to let it sit overnight or for a day or two to let my imagination and subconscious work on the story. Rarely have I not been able to write. My problem is I don't have enough time to get all the stories out of my head and onto paper.
Eileen Troemel I'm currently in production with the third poetry book called Moments in Life. I've also just finished writing a rough draft called the Dragon Lord's Mate (working title). It is a fantasy novel about spring rites of finding a bride and the Dragon Lord choosing an unwilling one. He discovers his choice is a strong determined woman with amazing gifts. They learn to love and fight together as the care for the Dragon Clan. I'm also working on my Defenders series. This is also a fantasy series with seven main characters fighting against a council who tries to outlaw magic in a land where magic is part of the land. The first book is about defending the people of the land and helping to make life better in the local area. I'm in production with this book. The second book is in the editing phase and the third book I'm still writing.
Eileen Troemel The best thing about being a writer is delving into any world I want and creating a story that will hopefully mean something and evoke an emotional response from the readers.
