Kristina Mathews The beauty of fiction is that you can travel anywhere and only get the benefits. By reading, I can travel back in time while enjoying my air conditioning and modern plumbing. I can enjoy a baseball game in the dead of winter or cool off on the slopes when it's 100 degrees outside. I can enjoy the excitement of the big city without the hassles of traffic. And I can fall in love over and over again without losing my husband.
Kristina Mathews The obvious answer would be making the time to write, but my biggest challenge is turning off the internal editor when I do finally sit down with my computer. Especially after doing a round of edits, I find it really hard to let go of the little bad habits I just spent weeks correcting.
Kristina Mathews The idea for Worth The Trade was sparked by the real life trade of outfielder Hunter Pence from the Phillies to the Giants. He took the first flight to San Francisco and pulled up to the ballpark in a limo. The fan in me loved his enthusiasm but the writer in me started wondering what if? What if there was a woman in that limo with him? What if she was the owner who had brought him there? What if they fell in love? The book, of course, is fiction, but in real life, the trade did help the Giants win the World Series in 2012.
