Feeling ultra-sensitive to the world around me. I joke about my habit of seeing in words--I'm constantly thinking of ways to express what I see in writing, a sort of painting of a picture in words. Being creative and feeling productive are also other aspects of being a writer that I enjoy.

Write, write, write--you can always edit later! One of my biggest challenges as a writer is learning not to censor myself or take my audience into account. You have to write for yourself, not for others. I find it limiting when one considers how their work will be interpreted. Getting everything out that you want to say is key, and its an important part of the process to learn how to edit your own work.

Usually by what's around me. I'm always captivated by the beauty of the mundane and the human experience. Nature immensely influences my work, and I immerse myself in it every opportunity I get so that I may later write about it and my place in it.

My most recent book, "28 Days of Solitude," is a memoir/journal of my month-long stay in a cabin in the remote forests of Northern California. The reason for my stay was to give myself the space and time to write and be creative. This memoir gives readers a peek into my psyche as a writer, my thoughts on writing, and my creative processes.
