I grew up with the story of the murders of my cattle ranching great grandfather and great uncle's murders by sheep ranching neighbors. No one was ever brought to justice. I now have the opportunity to meet the great grandson of one of the men and discuss our differing sides of the story, as well as see the part of the ranch where the murders took place. This is the mystery I would most like to see come to some resolution.

My favorite fictional couple would have to be Jane and Mr. Rochester in Jane Eyre. They are from such different backgrounds, so much stands between them, they shouldn't end up together, but they do. It makes me cry every time.

I knew I had ancestors from Scotlind since I was a child. I never had success in tracking them, but was fascinated with the land, people, and customs anyway. We traveled to Scotland for our 30th anniversary and I fell in love with it. After that trip, Land of My Dreams began to take shape and was eventually published. Only in the last year, I had success in tracing one family line back to Scotland. I guess you could say that the roots I knew were there influenced my writing, even though I had no hard facts. I work on something else until I feel I can go back to what I was doing in the first place. I read some other genre that gives me ideas of new ways to look at things, and watch movies and TV shows in the genre I am working on.

I have always loved to write. The idea for Land of My Dreams just wouldn't go away and I knew God had given me a story He wanted told.

Land of My Dreams came partially from a dream about a man in a kilt on a hillside with his bagpipes and sheep. When we visited Scotland and met a woman from Arizona who married a Scot while in the Peace Corps and had lived in Scotland for years, it sparked my imagination.
