What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?
Kevin Wade Johnson I don't know that any would serve well enough, because they'd all be speculative. What was my former boss thinking when he behaved so unjustly? How did my now-dead parents feel about the loss of their firstborn? And so on.

I could mine those for plots, and no doubt those and other life events have informed my writing. But I write science fiction and fantasy, and prefer to start my plots with "what if?"
