It's a very personal thing. I often feel swept away when I get on a roll and experience something akin to a runner's high. Time becomes abstract, the words seem to appear as if watching a film unfold. Sometimes when I read it over the next day, I don't quite remember writing it. It's a gift. I'm beyond grateful I'm able to do what I love to do every day.

Until very recently, I didn't have the luxury of dedicated writing time. I had limited time while my small children napped or were in preschool and had to utilize every second. That meant, I'd brainstorm the next scene, the next line, the next point of conflict -- while away from the computer. When I'd finally get there, I'd jump right in.
Now that I have more time, it seems I have less time to write. (How is that possible?) If I do get writer's block, I read.
