Usually by stumbling over an unusual event about which little has been written or which I think would make a suitable base for a fictional plot.

My first book "The Cross" was inspired by a real and still unsolved crime which took place in Bermuda and remains one of the most high profile crimes on that small island. My current book is a sequel to the first. I have not quite settled on the title as yet but will post it once I am sure.

Discipline. Almost every successful writer I have read or heard on this topic writes every day at the same time and usually the same place. I have tried to adopt this same aproach and, for me at least, it works!
