In the late 1930's, with Italy still in the midst of the Great Depression, King Victor Emmanuel III purchased a 1935 Duesenberg SJ, the most expensive car in world. Fearing the displeasure of the Italian people, he hid the car in a cave in Sicily. When King Victor addicted the crown in 1946 and fled to Alexandria, Eygpt, he left his prized Duesenberg behind.
