Anywhere. Everywhere. All the time. I take a lot of ideas from other people. If a character or a storyline or a phrase in a book, TV show, film, musical or song appeals to me, I try to figure out why that is. What makes this particular element resonate with me? If I can figure that out, I can use whatever it is in my own writing.

Well, Prospects & Presumptions was obviously inspired heavily by Jane Austen. My more recent work is attempting to turn my experience with mental illness into something that transcends teenage whinging. No luck so far.

I don't feel qualified to answer this question, really. Have I made it out of the "aspiring" stage yet? I don't think so. My advice is to trust your instincts and never give up. Try weird things. Brilliance never follows convention.

This is obviously one of the hardest questions a writer faces. Basically, when I'm blocked on one thing I'll try my hand at something else. Usually penning some predictable fanfiction will help me out of my funk.
