Denyse Bridger I don't really remember where the inspiration for the newest book came from, when it started to evolve and grow, I simply focused on the characters and listened while they began to introduce themselves and tell me about their world. Here's hoping I can do them justice when I introduce them to readers next year!
Denyse Bridger I'm inspired by so many things, images, music, dreams, even a stray bit of overheard conversation can inspire a new story. So, really, it comes from everywhere for me. I just love taking the things I see in my head and making them come to life for other people through words.
Denyse Bridger I'm currently working on my first ever series of novels, a contemporary series called The BlackHawk Agency. I was never interested in doing a series of books, and this originally was meant to be a short story. It took on a life of its own and continues to grow in unexpected ways. There is a Pinterest board for visuals and the first book is my current WIP.
Denyse Bridger Keep writing, and keep studying ways to improve. Those two things are the most important aspects to being a lasting author readers will return to over and over again. I've often told aspiring writers the thing that will stop them quicker than anything else is the need to continually rewrite their books. When you've finished a project, move on. This is a growing and learning journey, and your catalogue is your personal map... you chart your growth and change through the books you write. If you never stop writing the first book, you'll never move past it to create the next step of the journey...
Denyse Bridger Simply put, the best part of this writing thing is being able to put the stories in my head to the page and I hope entertain readers with those visions. The ability to touch readers, to make them think, feel, smile... that's the best part of being a writer.
Denyse Bridger Writer's Block is a nightmare for most authors, and everyone has a different way of approaching it. For me, I've never experienced the kind of block that stops ideas flowing, but I have recently stopped writing for the first time in many years. I'm slowly getting back to work - and in the down time, despite the lack of writing new material, I have created outlines for new books, and studied my craft constantly, so I've never really felt like I wasn't "writing" in some fashion.
