David Swerdlow I power through writer's block by writing habitually. It's not a choice. Often, I'll write badly. I call that typing. Eventually, I start to write. Head down, sweat on the back of my neck, feverish.
David Swerdlow It keeps me attentive to the world, to others, to myself. Without writing, I feel out of touch. Without writing, I feel like a ghost. Writing helps me live.

You won't always do your best work, but when you do get the opportunity to work with inspiration, you'll be ready to handle it. Keep your tools sharp.

David Swerdlow I started to write Television Man soon after the horrible event at Sandy Hook elementary school. At that time, I was serving as a school board member for our small school district in Pennsylvania. Our community, like many across the country, feared that we could be next. I was afraid. As a writer, I took that fear and converted it into energy. I researched everything I could about school shootings, and the novel came into being.
