Usually, by going for a long walk in the hills alone. I find I only really suffer from writer's block when I'm to preoccupied with other things. So, a day out in the countryside is good way to clear the mind.

Days after spending two days walking on Cadair Idris, including a night wild camping by Llyn Cau, I found the landscape continued to occupy my thoughts. So, I sat down and started just free writing to see what emerged. To my surprise, it was a series of paradoxes that I'd encountered in the landscape (and had encountered elsewhere in Wales) that seemed to offer a rich vein to explore.
