When I was escaping Greece through Turkey with my abducted daughters, I knew it would be an interesting story. What I didn't realize was a memoir needs more than exotic circumstances. It requires personal growth and takeaways from the author before it's truly worthwhile. Thus, it took me more than two decades to get it right!

I get inspired by stories that won't leave me alone. For example, an unsolved homicide that happened in '76 in Alaska crosses my mind daily, though I was only 12 years old when it happened. This kind of thing needs closure (in my head) and I won't get any unless I write about it.

Three things simultaneously, and I'd like to focus on just one.
1. The first novel in a trilogy, tentatively titled, Facing the Odds, One Man at a Time.
2. A travel memoir.
3. A book inspired by true events in the 90's when two teen African stowaways froze to death while attempting to gain educational access in Belgium.
